Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of South Africa. By using our website and services, you agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the South African courts for any disputes or claims arising out of or related to these terms and conditions.

Booking tickets

  • Tickets can be booked at:
    • Citybug offices
    • Online
  • Tickets and or moved tickets will be forfeited if not paid in 6 (six) hours.
  • Tickets are not transferable and are valid for use only by the persons to whom they are issued and for the date and time shown thereon.
  • It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure that the correct information is shown on the ticket.
  • If any payments are outstanding at the time of arrival at the drop off point, luggage will be held back until payment has been received.
  • Allow 3 hours (International flights) and 2 hours (Domestic flights) on departure and arrival times when making a booking with Citybug when travelling to an airport destinantion.
  • Tickets may be moved up until – but no later than – four (4) hours prior to departure time.
  • A time or date change, flight delay, doctor’s letter or name change will result in the issue of a replacement ticket and admin fee of R100,00 per respective change. Passengers are not allowed to break their journey unless separate tickets are issued at the appropriate fares, for each individual journey.
  • Any excess moneys will be used for admin fees and the balance will be forfeited.

Cancellation policy

  • Cancel 24+ hours before departure: Less 30% of ticket price.
  • Once a ticket has been moved it cannot be cancelled.
  • If a cancelation is not made 24 hours before departure, you will forfeit your money.
  • Once refund has been processed it cannot be reversed.
  • No-Show / Did not cancel: No Refund.

Departure times

  • Passengers are required to be at departure points 30 minutes before the time of departure shown on the ticket. Any seat not filled within 5 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time, will be offered for sale to standby passengers on a first come, first served basis.
  • If you are not on the bus at departure time, you forfeit your money.
  • If a passenger with an unpaid ticket is not at the bus 20 minutes before departure, Citybug has the right to depart without the passenger.

Baggage allowance

  • Unless contracted to the contrary, and at the sole discretion of Citybug, each fare-paying passenger is permitted to take (free of charge and at own risk) two suitcases not exceeding 80cm X 60cm X 30cm in size, of a total mass not exceeding 30kg.
  • Extra luggage is allowed at a fee only by prior arrangement. No bodyboards /skateboards/ surfboards/ bicycles are allowed.
  • Citybug reserves the right to refuse the carriage of luggage which does not comply with these conditions.
  • Large items must be carried in the luggage compartment and loaded only by the passenger.
  • Unaccompanied luggage will not be carried.
  • Citybug is not responsible whatsoever for loss or damage to passenger’s luggage or personal effects.
  • Citybug provides passenger liability insurance, in case of an accident caused by Citybug. However, insurance of passenger’s property or luggage is the passenger’s responsibility.
  • Hand luggage must fit unto your lap. No backpack is allowed in the bus.

Smoking

  • Is prohibited on/ near all the coaches (tobacco/ electronic devices)

Pets

  • No animals will be allowed on the coaches with exception of a trained guide dog accompanying a blind passenger.

Unaccompanied children

  • No unaccompanied children under the age of 12 years will be carried.
  • All children 3 years and younger must be in a car seat as required by Law. Citybug provides a car seat free of charge – prior arrangement with the office.
  • Children 3 years and younger receive 20% discount on their ticket.

General

  • Citybug will make every effort to keep to the current published timetable, but services may be affected by road, weather or other conditions beyond Citybug’s control. Citybug will therefore not accept liability for any costs incurred by passengers under such circumstances.
  • Citybug makes every effort to ensure connections between its services where appropriate. However, no liability can be accepted for loss or damages caused by any failure to make these connections or those perceived to exist with other service providers.
  • Citybug reserves the right to revise coach allocations without notice.
  • Passengers are not permitted to travel on the vehicles between depots or other parking places and terminal points.
  • Citybug reserves the right to cancel any of its services for whatever reason without notice. Under no circumstances will any liability be accepted for losses incurred by pre-booked passengers.
  • Citybug insurance are only liable for passengers where Citybug was at fault.
  • The company reserves the right to refuse to undertake the conveyance of any passenger(s)
  • Citybug reserves the right to refuse the consumption of alcohol on its coaches, or not to undertake the conveyance of any passengers who enters the vehicle whilst intoxicated.
  • All fares and schedules are subject to change without notice.

Official Terms and Conditions: Citybug Golden Ticket Competition

Please read these Terms and Conditions (“T&Cs”) carefully. Participation in this competition will constitute your agreement to be bound by these T&Cs. If you do not agree with these T&Cs, you must not participate in this competition.

1. Promoter
The promoter of this competition is Citybug, a private company registered in the Republic of South Africa.

2. Competition Name
The competition is named the “Citybug Golden Ticket Competition”.

3. Competition Period
The competition runs from 00:01 on Wednesday, 1 October 2025 and ends at 23:59 on Friday, 31 October 2025 (“the Competition Period”). No entries received after the closing date will be considered.

4. Eligibility
4.1. This competition is open to all citizens and legal residents of the Republic of South Africa who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry and are in possession of a valid South African Identity Document, permanent residence permit, or passport.
4.2. Entry into this competition is not open to:
a. Directors, members, partners, employees, agents, or consultants of the Promoter (Citybug) or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the Promoter.
b. The immediate family members of any of the persons specified in clause 4.2.a.
c. The Promoter’s advertising and promotional agencies, suppliers of goods or services in connection with this competition.

5. How to Enter
5.1. To gain automatic entry into the competition, a participant must complete the following two steps within the Competition Period:
a. Book a Ticket: Purchase a valid Citybug passenger ticket for travel on any official Citybug route.
b. Travel: The travel date(s) corresponding to the purchased ticket must fall between 1 October 2025 and 31 October 2025, inclusive.
5.2. CRITICAL ENTRY MECHANISM: A booking will only qualify for entry into the competition if it is made through one of the following two channels:
a. Telephonically: By calling an official Citybug reservations number.
b. In-Office: In person, at any official Citybug office or accredited agency.
5.3. EXCLUSIONS: Bookings made online via the Citybug website, through third-party websites, or any other channel not specified in clause 5.2 are expressly excluded from this competition and will not be eligible for entry.
5.4. Entry is automatic upon a qualifying purchase and successful travel. No further action is required from the participant.
5.5. Each qualifying ticket purchase constitutes one (1) entry into the random draw. Multiple qualifying ticket purchases will result in multiple entries.
5.6. A qualifying entry requires that the ticket is paid for in full and that the participant has completed their travel as per the booking. Cancelled bookings or “no-shows” will be deemed invalid and will be removed from the draw.

6. The Prize
6.1. One (1) winner will be selected.
6.2. The prize consists of a single cash amount of R5,000.00 (Five Thousand South African Rand).
6.3. The prize money will be paid to the winner via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) into a valid South African bank account nominated by the winner.
6.4. The prize is non-transferable and non-exchangeable for any other item.
6.5. The Promoter is not liable for any costs incurred by the winner in claiming or using the prize. The winner is responsible for any tax implications that may arise from winning the prize.

7. Winner Selection and Notification
7.1. A random draw will be conducted from all valid entries received during the Competition Period.
7.2. The draw will take place within ten (10) working days of the competition’s closing date. The draw will be overseen by an independent auditor or a designated representative of the Promoter.
7.3. The potential winner will be notified within three (3) working days of the draw via the telephone number and/or email address provided at the time of booking.
7.4. The Promoter will make a minimum of three (3) attempts to contact the potential winner.
7.5. Should the potential winner not be reachable or fail to respond within seventy-two (72) hours of the first contact attempt, they will forfeit the prize. The Promoter reserves the right to draw a new winner under the same conditions.
7.6. The winner will be required to verify their identity by providing a clear copy of their valid South African Identity Document, permanent residence permit, or passport. They must also provide their banking details for the prize to be transferred.
7.7. The Promoter’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

8. Publicity and Data Privacy
8.1. By entering, participants acknowledge that their personal information will be collected and processed by the Promoter for the purposes of this competition, including contacting the winner and arranging the prize. All personal information will be handled in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), No. 4 of 2013.
8.2. The Promoter may require the winner to be identified and have their photograph taken and published in printed media or to appear on radio, television, or social media platforms when accepting their prize.
8.3. The winner will be given the opportunity to consent to or decline participation in any such publicity. A winner who consents to such publicity shall not be entitled to any remuneration for their participation.
8.4. The name and town/city of the winner may be published on the official Citybug website and social media channels.

9. General Terms
9.1. The Promoter reserves the right to amend, modify, change, postpone, suspend, or cancel this competition and any prizes, or any aspect thereof, without notice at any time, for any reason that the Promoter reasonably deems necessary.
9.2. The Promoter is not responsible for any technical failures, telecommunication network problems, or any other issues that may result in an entry being lost or not successfully submitted.
9.3. The Promoter assumes no liability whatsoever for any direct or indirect loss, damage, death, personal injury, or any other claim arising from participation in this competition or from the use of the prize.
9.4. Any entry that is fraudulent, incomplete, or illegible will be deemed invalid. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any participant who is found to be tampering with the entry process or acting in violation of these T&Cs.
9.5. By participating in this competition, you agree to be bound by these T&Cs, which will be interpreted by the Promoter in its sole discretion.
9.6. This competition is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa and is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
9.7. A copy of these T&Cs can be found on the official Citybug website or can be requested from any Citybug office during the Competition Period.
